Information for submitting BALWOIS 2012 abstract

The Abstract Submission Deadline for BALWOIS 2012 Conference (Fifth International Scientific Conference on Water, Climate and Environment, from 28 May to 02 June 2012, Ohrid, Macedonia) is postponed to 20th of November 2011 ( all information at www.balwois.com/2012 ).

A - To send one or more abstracts you have to:

  1. Register yourself at: http://ocs.balwois.com ;
  2. Use your username and password every time when you want to access your account, to send an abstract and to follow the process on your paper.

B - If you have already submitted an abstract and you want to make changes (to add more authors, to change the Title or the Text of abstract, etc.) you should:

  1. Use your username and password to access your account;
  2. Click on the Title of the abstract that you want to change;
  3. Click on the button EDIT METADATA;
  4. After making corrections, click on the button SEND.

All the changes can be done until 20th of November 2011.

The general concern of BALWOIS Project - Balkan Water Observation and Information System for Balkan countries - is to create in Balkan a community of the main stakeholders in the field of water protection and water management ranging from scientists, private sector, experts, NGO's, to decision makers and large public.

Three main actions are carried out in BALWOIS project:

(i) the creation of a network of scientists and stakeholders working in water related fields,
(ii) the implementation of a Water observation and information system, and
(iii) the organization of working groups, workshops, scientific visits, training courses and significant scientific events.

BALWOIS network is presently composed of around 800 researchers and experts, the information system available trought this web site give access to 1380 papers (BALWOIS conferences) and other various reports.

BALWOIS Project organises every 2 years an international scientific conference in Ohrid (Republic of Macedonia). Until now, 4 conferences have been organized : in 2004, 2006 and 2008 with around 250 researchers and experts ; 400 participants attended the last one on "BALWOIS 2010", 25-29 May 2010...read more...

International Advance Study Course: “Ecohydrology& Biotechnology for Sustainable Integrated Water Resources Management in HELP Basins” (12-22 September 2010)

The International Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences - European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO (ERCE) in cooperation with University of Lodz (UL), Institute for Agricultural and Forest Environment of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IAFE),Polish aid and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation-International Hydrological Programme organize The International Advance Study Course: “Ecohydrology& Biotechnology for Sustainable Integrated Water Resources Management in HELP Basins”.


The International Advance Study Course will be held on 12-22 of September 2010. The Course is organized for the representatives of the HELP Basins, including a team composed of one young scientist and one decision makers / practitioner for each HELP basin. The Course will be open for all countries, however it is especially addressed to developing regions. The number of participants will be 20 people, with maintained gender balance.

The fourth international scientific conference BALWOIS 2010 will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of Republic of Macedonia and French Embassador in Skopje. BALWOIS 2010 is organized by Balkan Institute for Water and Environment IB2E, Macedonian Association of Meteorology METEO-MAK, Hydrobiological Institute of Ohrid, Faculty of Civil Engineering (University Sts. Cyril and Methodius - Skopje), and University "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Bitola. BALWOIS 2010 is supported by Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Sea of France, International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and various private companies.
